Academic Magnet High School’s mission is to “challenge every student, teacher, parent, and administrator with high academic expectations.” The vast majority of the classes that are available to students at Academic Magnet High School are either honors or Advanced Placement classes, and each student is required to complete an independent research project during their junior and senior years. The work of students has been published in a variety of journals, both academic and professional. Students have access to wireless internet in the cafeteria as well as in each of the three computer labs on campus.

About Charleston
Charleston is the largest city in the U.S. state of South Carolina, the county seat of Charleston County, and the principal city in the Charleston–North Charleston metropolitan area. The city lies just south of the geographical midpoint of South Carolina's coastline on Charleston Harbor, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean formed by the confluence of the Ashley, Cooper, and Wando rivers.
